The crafty owners here have brought two of our favourite cuisines together under the one roof. And more than that, they have made the combo work. Blending Korean and Mexican flavours is not an obvious culinary step but thanks to co-owner Tony LeeÂ’s Korean heritage and experience with Mexican cuisine, the food on offer at Vecino is a success. The dining room is as fresh, colourful and vivacious as the crowd vying for seats at this Canterbury diner. The mood is light and the chatter loud. Treats include the kimchi fried mozzarella balls, platters of sticky, sweet and spicy chicken with onion rings and fries, and you can wash all of them down with the house signature cocktail, the vecinorita: the giant cocktails are a party starter right there in a glass. There is so much fun to be had at this excellent eatery. Vecino is a dining experience which must be had.
