The name of this restaurant piques the interest, doesn’t it? It is so evocative. And the dining space is everything you expect it to be. Rustic with wooden benches and bars and corrugated iron cladding, this place feels uniquely Coburg-ian – even with the American inspired menu - and the feature of the space is, of course, the hefty black smoker which churns out amazing smoked meats. Recommendations of the house include the Cuban style pulled pork, smoky cheddar pork sausage, crispy pork belly and the incredible tasting Texas style beef brisket. Be sure to experience the sides. Lovingly prepared, they do not play second fiddle to the mains but rather are gourmet sensations all on their own, like the fire roasted red peppers in rosemary marinade and the mac and cheese which comes alive with truffle mayo and parmesan. Note to self: visit here on an empty stomach. A meat lovers’ paradise, the flavours are out of this world, the servings are American-ginormous-sized and the hospitality a delight. An Australian/American classic in Coburg not to be missed.
