OVERVIEW
The Whale Restaurant certainly is something. Retro decor belies a menu and attitude to food which is truly contemporary: local produce is sought out passionately by chef Matthew Hoar (ex pro surfer) and the treasures he finds dictate the menu. Oysters are from the nearby Wagonga Inlet, the cheese board is filled with local delights and plenty of the vegetables are from the on-site herb and vegetable Whale Garden or from friendly neighbours. Happy hour in the Ocean Lounge every Friday from 5pm sounds like the perfect prelude to an amazing South Coast feast at The Whale.
