Front and centre at The Como Centre in the heart of South YarraÂ’s boutique fashion precinct, The Meat & Wine Co South Yarra is a chic boutique eatery. Less luxe and old worldly, more boutique and party, the bi-fold windows at the bar front open onto Toorak Rd. The restaurant has ceiling-high open wine racks jammed with big burly reds and the warm timber furnishings and leather banquette seating are hard to resist after pre-dinner drinks. The menu is comprehensive, traditional favourites abound and it reflects a commitment to the paddock-to-plate philosophy. The succulent beef cuts, including the premiere Monte Beef which is Halal certified and exclusive to The Meat & Wine Co, are an obvious choice but there are also delicious alternatives on offer. Pork ribs, beef burgers and lamb shoulders are highly recommended and there is a good selection of hearty side dishes to choose from. There are two dessert menus: solid sweets that come in a bowl or boozy liquids to sip from a glass. ItÂ’s a fabulous gourmet stop either during or after a day of serious retail therapy.
