When The Meat & Wine Co shifted from Darling Harbour to Barangaroo, no expense was spared. The flagship eatery is a stunning space, balancing African inspiration and luxurious heritage dining across all three levels of the space, and even including a private whisky room. When setting up in Barangaroo, there is no doubt about it: you had better bring your A-game. Deluxe though it is, the restaurant remains warm, welcoming and comfortable. The menu is comprehensive, traditional favourites abound, and it reflects a commitment to the paddock-to-plate philosophy. The succulent beef cuts, including the premiere Monte Beef which is Halal certified and exclusive to The Meat & Wine Co, are an obvious choice but there are also delicious alternatives on offer. Pork ribs, beef burgers and lamb shoulders are highly recommended and there is a good selection of hearty side dishes. There are two dessert menus: solid sweets that come in a bowl or boozy liquids to sip from a glass. The wine list is an adventure in itself: unique Australian wines, favourites and award winners or an opportunity to sample and discover new labels and varieties.
