From the open fire, the coal by the fire pit, to the aroma of smoking meat and the stunning installation of green foliage suspended above the dining section, the eatery at Cockle Bay is a great destination for drinks or dining. ItÂ’s fun to watch the theatre of the kitchen and bar staff as they prep the food and drinks. Hunter & BarrelÂ’s boards, braised soups, slow-cooked meats, pies, and hearty stews are satisfying, and the servings are generous. The sandwich section is a highlight, especially the baguette with chopped pork with plenty of cracking and pickled cabbage. If chasing a drink, there are craft beers, wines on tap and barrel-aged spirits and cocktails, all of which go beautifully with a seat by the open fire.
